Big D

Dallas, aka Big D, is my barn owners sale horse who he let me ride today! He is a 15.2(ish) Black gelding with a stripe. A little bit on the lean side, but very 'Go'-y.  I was standing at the side of the ring and he hopped off Big D and asked if I wanted to ride. I said sure and hopped on. Now remember people, the barn owner is like... a full foot and a half taller then me, if not more. So his stirups were as high as they could go, and they STILL were not short enough for me to really get my leg into position. It was QUITE funny. So off I went, hardly any grip on my feet and feeling slightly off balance. Thankfully Big D was a good by and listened very well for me. He has a pretty BIG stride for his size and though the barn owner wants to train him for a western pleasure horse, he feels MUCH more like a hunter under saddle horse. Very long and flowy. So trying to get him to go slowslowslow was quite the challenge. Normally, the barn owner would turn him in a small circle to slow him down if he got to fast... well I tried that and almost fell off, so I had to settle with the old "Hold"..."Release" meathod which seemed to work quite well for him actuallly and he was going really nice and slow for me.

I know that he is a baby, and was VERY proud of him for listening to me even though I might have been a little off since I felt off balanced. He could have easily taken advantage of me and he didn't which shows he has a really good head on him. He IS for sale, and I do hope to ride him at least once more before he is sold. He is quite the boy, that is for sure.

In other news, I saw "Livin In Fast Forward" Today, and MAN is he doing great!!! Can't wait to see that boy hit the show ring!!

First Post

As the title states, this is our first post ^_^ This blog is going to be a nice little log of how me and Moosie are getting along now that we are moving barns. While she was doing good at her previous barn, I just did not have the time that she needed to be a happy horse. Now with the new barn, I am out much more often and am giving her the time she needs to behave and pay attention to me. There will also be side posts about training and such of other horses, such as todays post! Make sure to read it! Big D was awesome for me.
